So much of life cannot be controlled. Of course, we are not victims of circumstance but rather powerful creators in our own lives when we claim ownership for them. Yet things happen, for better or for worse, to us and for us.
Sometimes those things are glorious and wonderful blessings that validate our intuition, right path, and beauty of being alive. We feel connected to that deeper Source around us and the world seems grander and more joyous and we notice a little spring in our step because of it. We become more inspired to offer more of ourselves and our truth to those around us. We step into the flow and rhythm of life's mysteries with greater ease and trust and a bit of awe.
Those other moments and experiences, the ones we wish we didn't have, often teach us the most about ourselves. They shine a light on the areas we are wounded and need to resolve and heal. If we are not mindful, we can become overcome with fear or confusion and end up stuck in overwhelm. It's easy to lose our footing in the ebb and flow of life, especially when things are going wrong, sometimes horribly wrong. It's daunting and frightening, at times, to do what needs to be done, to dive into ourselves more deeply to discover the treasure hidden in the darkness.
There is a great power within us that can etch away the rough edges and transform all that it encounters, yet it is gentle enough to support those things that are most delicate.
I have learned that it takes courage and strength to shine light on our shadows and create an empowered mindset, but when we do we are washed over with self-confidence, a greater sense of worthiness and value, and a deeper understanding of who we truly are. We can then begin to consciously co-create a life that is worthy of us and our potential.
You already have within you everything you need to create a life that speaks to your SOUL with meaning and value. Sometimes we are powerfully in this knowledge and our truth, while other times we feel lost at sea and struggle to find our way back. But we will always find our way back. I once heard a saying that went something like this:
"All stories have a happy ending. If yours isn't happy right now, then it's not the end."
I find comfort in that and it's carried me through some of the darkest and loneliest times in my life. Perhaps it will remind you to hold on during difficult times because the good is coming soon.
The upcoming holiday season triggers a lot of people in so many ways and they drown in pain, sadness, resentment, grief, anger, and so much more. Sometimes they don't even know why. More than likely you have someone in your family who struggles with this, like I do. It can be challenging to go through it yourself or to support someone who is.
Allow yourself the opportunity to give to yourself the gift of self-love, self-acceptance, and respect. You may not be where you want to be but you are not where you were before. Nor are you who you were before. Every encounter, opportunity, obstacle, and experience is an opportunity to grow and learn more deeply.
In good times and in bad, the more you allow yourself to be open and vulnerable with your truth, the richer the treasures you will discover. To me, the holiday season is in part about the human spirit – the depth of who we are and can be, if we only allow ourselves to embrace the life before us and say yes to who and what we desire.
May you be filled with gratitude and grace, and know that you are loved more than you could ever know.
