Yoga and Ayurveda go hand-in-hand and are often called sister practices. The word Ayurveda literally means the "knowledge or science of life" – learning "how" to life. Ayurveda being the science and yoga is the practice of the science. Ayurveda helps us discover who we really are and what choices are best for us. It is a personalized system of healing that touches our mind, body and spirit. So, where did you learn your current eating, sleeping and lifestyle habits? If you were lucky, you learned some of this from your parents. If you are like most people, you learned these things when you went to college or moved out on your own. Yikes! Wouldn't you love to have a system of healing that showed you how to eat, what foods are best for you, what lifestyle habits help you live a healthy, happy and long life? Ayurveda has ancient knowledge to help our us live in balance in our modern lives.
Saturday, August 25th, 1-3 pm Part III: Food as Medicine. One of the easiest and most effective ways to improve your health is to use your food as healing medicine for your body. In Ayurveda, we are taught that consuming certain foods can actually alleviate health issues. Would it be great if your "prescription" for an ailment were to eat a yummy dish? Ayurveda teaches us what foods we should consume for specific conditions and body types. Learn what is best for YOU, what to avoid and some simple ways to improve your diet. We will be sampling some food too!
Class is $20. Afterwards there will be a FREE Ayurvedic Open House from 3-5pm. This is an opportunity to ask questions of our Ayurvedic Practitioner, explore Ayurvedic products and find out about our NEW Fall Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor training program!
