Honoring a master teacher,  Vaidya Mishra

In Memory of Vaidya Mishra

What is a Vaidya?
First, what is a Vaidya?  Vaidya is sanskrit for "one who knows" and is a designation given to highly regarded physicians of Ayurvedic medicine.

Who was Vaidya Mishra?
Vaidya was a master ayurvedic physician, formulator and educator.  His lineage of Ayurveda was passed on from Father to Son for nearly 5,000 years.  He could read your pulse and know just about everything about you and even remember you through your pulse. It always amazed me.

To me, Vaidya Mishra was my first teacher of Ayurveda.  You will catch me refer to Vaidya's teachings, methods and stories fondly and often.  His presence is with me as I teach, educate and treat people.  When I practice mantra during treatments, it is his voice that is with me, and you.

Where is Vaidya?
Vaidya passed away a year ago today.  Though he is not with us physically, his teachings and spirit are boundless.  His lineage continues to live through us students and Prana Center.

I will be spending this weekend in LA at his Prana Healing Center with many other students of Vaidya Mishra. This is a deep honor to be in the presence of Vaidya's followers, celebrating his teachings and life.

Why Vaidya Mishra?
I have researched and used protocols and products from a number of teachings and product lines, however there is nothing that works as well as Vaidya's directions and formulations.  It is subtle, yet profoundly effective. I continue to transition to using more of his work in my practice. That rose petal jam you all love so much, yep that is his!

Another example, I use his products throughout our Home Detox and Panchakarma programs.  Spring is a time for cleansing.  If you are interested in learning more, join us next Sunday 4/22 for a free talk. See below.

How can you learn more about Vaidya Mishra?
A recent interview with a number of Vaidya's long term students was recently released and can be listened to here.  Hearing his voice in chant and telling stories brings him to life again.

You also can learn more about his Ayurvedic cooking through the cookbook by Divya Altar, "What to eat for how you feel". I highly recommend this book as it is based on Vaidya's lineage with many western recipes.  You can purchase it Amazon
In deep respect and honor....

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave,
Sachidananda Murtaye,
Nisprapancaya Shantaya,
Niralambaya Tejase Om.

I offer myself to the one true teacher within and without,
In the forms of reality, consciousness, and bliss,
Ever present and full of peace,
Independent being, the vital essence of illumination.
