The Light by Joel Gollhardt
by Joel Gollhardt
Bright shines the sun through the window pane
rays of light passing through the vastness of space
ninety three million miles traveled
to fall upon my face.
The light stops here
its journey abruptly ended
by the substance of my body
by the solidity of my frame.
Yet into my skin it is absorbed
passing through this cutaneous membrane
penetrating deep within the cells
absorbed into this vessel I wear.
I am nourished and enriched
by the light upon my face
and as it becomes a part of me
I become The Light.
