DIY Toothpaste Recipe

I've been doing the oil swishing thing and to be honest, I find it hard to make time to let the oil sit in my mouth for the full 20-30 minutes every day. Plus, I don't always get a clean, fresh feeling from doing it. Though no one has complained, I was feeling like my breath might be less than lovely.

So, I decided to take on the project of making my own toothpaste. It took a brushing or two to get used to it. But now, I really enjoy it. I feel fresh + clean and my highly sensitive teeth feel more protected and less pained.

Here's what I used:

1/4 c pure coconut oil
1/8 c baking soda
25 drops tea tree oil
25 drops peppermint oil

I filled a little jar with the coconut oil and liquefied it by setting in my bathroom sink with hot water. Then, I stirred in the baking soda and essential oils. And, SHAZAM! I had instant toothpaste. No flouride. No chemicals. No nonsense. Just a pure, clean teeth cleaner.

Next time, I want to try adding some calcium powder and some earth minerals, since I've read that you can remineralize your teeth that way.
