July Classes Coming Up at Resiliency Training
Using Plants for Medicine
The theme for July is using plants for medicine and in that regard we are introducing one new class and holding two of the most popular classes.
On Sunday, July 13th, we will be doing a Medicinal Tea Class at Resiliency Training. The garden will be full of medicinal plants in bloom and we will be identifying and harvesting parts that can be used in teas and talk about the medicinal properties that each plant possesses. We will also take a walk in a nearby park to identify the same plants growing in the wild. We will discuss how to properly dry and store the plant for later tea use. Then the class will sample tea made from various parts including roots, leaves and flowers. The cost is $20 per person and includes hand outs and a bag of harvested tea to use at home. On Sunday, July 20th, we will be doing our popular Healing Salve Class at Resiliency Training. We will be talking about the medicinal properties of plants and how to infuse those into an oil to make a healing salve which will replace store bought anti-septic first aid creams for cuts, bruises, stings and abrasions. We will focus on plant identification, harvesting and how to infuse the plants properly to store or use immediately. The cost will be $25 and will include handouts and a 1 oz tin of multi-purpose salve the participants can take home. To find out more about this class or to sign up, please click here.
Finally, on Sunday, July 27th, we will be doing a five hour Wild Edibles Class where the students will be harvesting and cooking wild edibles. We will talk in-depth on several different plants and how and why to incorporate them into your meals. The nutrition, medicine and flavor you can add to your meals through wild edibles will make the effort well worth it. The cost will be $60 and will include handouts and a full home cooked meal and drinks using wild edibles. To find out more about this class and sign up, click here.
