Complete Transformation of an Old Paradigm

Yesterday I wrote about using a technique I call the “3-Minute Drill” to bring in something big in my life that I really want. I wrote of setting out sticky notes and setting timers on my cell phone and computer as reminders to speak or think my new affirmation.

I wanted to share my favorite 3-Minute Drill tool with you. It is an audio CD I recorded with five second snippets from several of my favorite songs with three minutes of silence between each sample. I hear nothing and then Willie Nelson sings “And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.” At that moment it is a sweet reminder to state my affirmation again of what I want. Three more minutes of silence, and then John Lennon and Paul McCartney sing, “In my life, I love you more.” Another affirmation. More silence, and then unexpectedly Ray Stevens sings, “Everything is beautiful, in its own way.”

It’s so funny how well this works, because the three minutes of silence seems to be just long enough for me to really focus on something else, and get lost in what I am doing. That is what allows the singing to feel like a surprise, and thus a dramatic reminder of the mindset shift I am working on.

I have used it many times with many amazing ideas… successfully. Here’s a few examples of affirmations I have successfully turned into a belief and knowing with the 3-Minute Drill: “My kids are madly in love with me.” “There is always enough money.” “Focus purely on success and the money will easily come as a byproduct.” “I appreciate the depth to which my girlfriend cares for me, in every moment.” “I am a genius, and will trust my instinct at all times.” “Where I am is just fine, and everything that came before is perfect in that it has allowed me to be right here right now.”

Using the drill has a big impact within an hour, and I have found that I never need more than a day and a half to completely transform an idea into a core belief. That is amazing! Many of these paradigms and beliefs took years to develop through sloppy habits of thought, and I can totally reverse them in less than 36 hours! It is nothing short of a miracle.

On a technical note, I use Garage Band on my Apple Computer to create the short snippets of songs. It is a bit time consuming to create them, but so worth the effort.
