A Celebration

So one summer day in July 2007 I take my then 5 year old and 1 year old to an outdoor "fun" fair down the road. Little did I know it would be one of the best days of my life. A day that would change not only my life, but our family's life. Having wanted a third child for some time, the night before I had just told my husband that I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. I didn't feel well enough, didn't know what the future held, etc. Then, that day I looked at the flyer for the little "carnival" down the road and went. I remember my husband was working and I was driving around to various farmers markets, and then we decided to hit the fair. It was a parking lot full of those bouncy things, tunnels, and store fronts that had tables set up. My kids played a bit, it was a hot day...

Then, my son kept calling me over to this little card table set up under the strip mall overhang. He kept drinking little Dixie cups of something and trying to get my attention to come over there and try it. And so I did. I went home with a bottle. This yummy drink I tasted, and my son and daughter loved was called Vemma. I didn't now anything about it. But with being diagnosed with "mild Lupus" and having felt just not quite right for some time, I decided to give it a shot. Why not?

Well, today as I write this on Monday, March 14th, 2011, we celebrate the 1st birthday of our third child, our second little girl. I thank my son often for making me walk over to that table to taste that yummy drink that has changed our lives in so many ways.
